On Saturday, 20th June 2026, we will be walking not just for the journey, but to help build better futures for young children at Akal Academy, Jandiali, Punjab.
Education creates opportunities — not only for individuals but for families and entire communities to grow and thrive.
Akal Academy, Jandiali, part of The Kalgidhar Trust, is committed to empowering children through education and helping young people reach their full potential.
Founded in 1956, The Kalgidhar Trust and Kalgidhar Society, Baru Sahib have transformed rural lives through value-based education, women’s empowerment, healthcare, and social welfare.
Their impact includes:
- Educating over 70,000 students across states including Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh
- Establishing 130+ low-cost CBSE schools and 2 universities
- Supporting communities through teacher training centres, a multi-specialty hospital, drug de-addiction centres, an orphanage, an old age home, and a centre for distressed women
Our Goal – Creating Better Learning Spaces
This year, we aim to raise £40,000 to help create safe, inspiring, and nurturing teaching environments for the students of Akal Academy, Jandiali.
The school has already begun improving its facilities, and the funds raised will help support:
- Three new classrooms
- A new maths laboratory
- A new activity room
- A new language laboratory
- A new medical room
- 12 new rooms for a nursery wing
These improvements will give students access to the facilities and resources they need to learn, grow, and succeed.

Many boys and girls in Punjab still lack access to quality educational facilities due to unequal distribution of resources. Without the right learning environments, their opportunities and future potential remain uncertain.

Empowering Girls Through Education in Gurdaspur, Punjab
Rural Education for Girls: Breaking the Cycle of Poverty and Inequality.
The funds raised will directly support a school run by The Kalgidhar Trust in Gurdaspur, Punjab – a region where access to quality education for girls is still a challenge.
“When you educate a woman, you uplift a family and transform a community”.
Breaking Barriers: In Punjab, 35% of households face substance abuse and gender-based violence is rising. Education is the key to empowering girls, breaking poverty cycles, and uplifting communities.
Help us reach our target of supporting 400 girls by funding:
Uniforms and transport.
Classroom construction to create better learning environments.
Education with Purpose: Equip girls with values-led education to foster leadership, resilience, and brighter futures for generations to come.

- Who Can Join? Individuals, families, and corporate teams are all welcome to participate.
- Purpose: Help raise funds for girls’ education (tuition & materials) and school refurbishment in Gurdaspur, Punjab, India.
- When: 13th July 2025, 11am - 2:30pm
- Where: Kinver Edge, Stourbridge, UK
- Mini Bus Cost: £2.50 per person, departing at 9:45am from B19 2LF, subject to interest
- Minimum Donation: We encourage each participant to aim for a minimum fundraising target of £250
